  1. 01 · The field

    Out of high school I installed fireplaces. Two years of hard work, learning how a business really runs.

  2. 02 · The injury

    A torn ACL on the soccer field put me in the admin office. On day one I asked the owner for a strategy internship. He said: “Go see what value you can give me back.”

  3. 03 · The call

    After a year and a half I left for IT consulting. Then he called: the company was merging with its largest competitor, and he needed a CTO.

  4. 04 · The climb

    I filled the gap: SharePoint, ERP integrations, financial dashboards, better data practices, and a custom quoting platform. IT improved. Morale improved. Sales improved.

  5. 05 · The next ridge

    I worked full-time while finishing at BYU Marriott (3.85 GPA), got into Carnegie Mellon’s MISM program, moved to Pittsburgh, and married my girlfriend. I kept the company on as a part-time vCIO.

  6. 06 · Now

    Final semester at CMU. Building neural nets, computer vision, and full-stack products, and helping robotics startups. Most weekends you’ll find me on a trail with my wife.
